Capturing Nichola & Mike's serene St.Helens wedding.

It was the morning of the 17th of August, 2024, when FourthCornerPhotography were enlisted to shoot a St.Helens wedding for a wonderful Christian couple - Nichola and Mike. Full of energy, our photographers dashed to the venue with time to spare. Unfortunately, there was a slight mix up with the venue - and thus we had to rush to the actual ceremony site. However, once we arrived, the memories started flowing (we actually want to make a blog post about this in the future, and what you can do as a photographer to help in awkward situations or how you can handle times of crisis)!

We got the couple out of the church - immediately showering them in confetti (for reference, there were upwards of 150 guests - so this was literally a tsunami of paper hitting them). The bride and groom kept their composure as they walked towards my lens, they enjoyed the experience so much, that we even held a second confetti walk!

After this, we quickly started gathering close friends and family for portraits - we used some cute foreground elements like poppies, as well as the scale of the church to create passionate and fun compositions for Mike and Nichola. The steeple was an especially good element to work with!

Our favourite image from our portraits session is of this baby, who looks genuinely bamboozled as to what was unfolding in front of them (we can't blame the baby, the beautiful bride and groom went from confetti shower, to an emotional rollercoaster of celebration!).

"Are you getting this?" comes to mind.
After getting away from the church, we re-conviened at the reception, a beautifully grounded rugby club in the middle of St.Helens. This venue was perfect for the guests and the couple, it was attended by a wonderfully charismatic DJ, and the staff were perfect. Guests were absolutely brilliant with us (we were offered many free drunks by one guest in particular, which we turned down. Thank you anyway generous uncle!).

As you can see from this image, the dancefllor was alive and kicking the whole night, children were especially interested in the giant glowing letters (this fixation seemed to be fueled by an overabundance of sugar, we were very jealous of their energy!). As you can see in the above image, Nichola and Mike got caught in their passion a few times, and it resulted in brilliant images.

Then came the time to cut the wedding cake. We managed to capture these beautifully contrasted images that focussed on texture and clarity. Our couples venue had a beautiful bokeh to it which resulted in some perfect images. The speeches were just as beautiful, in which the best man was able to bring in some mystery guests from overseas from his phone!

And thus our magical day with Nichola and Mike came to an end (brilliantly so, as they had choreographed a first dance to look like a scene straight out of Grease lightining!). If you want to see those images (and even MORE beautiful moments from Mike and Nichola), you'll have to follow our social media accounts, or hunt through our "best of 2024" section on our website. But for now, here's a few more we've really fallen in love with!
We feel honoured to have been a party to such a beautiful day. Thank you for having us!
